I ran into Anthony Bourdain yesterday on Istiklal Street. We used to study his show in Seattle, devotedly learning about the world of travel-gonzo. I was walking up the street, when I saw someone jury-rigging a Sony Z1U (our A-Camera for the past year) to an economy sedan. I slowed, thinking “that idiot’s going to break an expensive camera doing that”, when I noticed Mr. Bourdain standing beside it, mic’d up with the same wireless lavs we use in the field.

For the record, Anthony Bourdain politely listened to my nervous pitch, took my business card and shook my hand. Really nice guy.
