It was a last minute thing, but we are spontaneous girls. We got a message about a factory party happening in District 4, so naturally, we were up for it. Serene and I checked it out and unfortunately, it wasn’t as totally awesome as we imagined it to be. The DJing was a bit weak, the sound system had its problems, the bathrooms were nasty, and the drinks were expensive…but, hell, it’s what you make of it. Serene and I shook our booties, batted our eyelashes at a few boys, and completely blew the budget for the day. Oh, and apparently “factory parties” are held in “garages” here. But now I’m just splitting hairs. All in all, I would consider the evening a success. And it gave Serene and I yet another opportunity to eat street food at 3am. Here’s a peek at what a factory party looks like in Vietnam:
Fantastic looking little shindig. This place looks like a pretty descent source of entertainment. How did you find out about something like this Serene? Bubbles at any dance party are a source of inspiration/visual seizures. What was the foreigner to locals ratio like?
Hey Jesse!
I found out about it after receiving a text from a foreigner friend who is living in Saigon – he’s always a good source of information for where the party will be. To be honest, it was mostly foreigners, so no points for the “cultural aspect”, but fun all the same!
Thanks for the info Kristin (woops). You guys are making life in Vietnam look so damn amazing, which is saying alot because the original Jet Set boys did a pretty good job the first time. Sounds like you have made one of the most important connections one needs when living abroad: Friends who know whats going for fun. The job and rental connections of course are key, but once you get moved in you need to go celebrate!
I just cant believe that Ho Chi Minh city is host to these sort of events! Sweet!
