The problem with Vietnamese dong is that it is extremely inflated, the exchange rate is about 17,700 dong to the dollar. When someone tells me something is 5 million dong I’m thinking (thanks to my incredible math skills), ‘that’s like $3 right?’ Ok, so I’m exaggerating about my math skills a little but I assume everything is incredibly cheap even though the number is ludicrously high, I have a feeling this is going to pose a problem for me because I’m always thinking what’s a dollar here and there? Anyone that knows me knows that I’m TERRIBLE with money. I started off in Vietnam with roughly $500. My monthly rent is $180. I do not have a job in Vietnam yet, although I am still doing some work for a travel agency in Turkey editing their website so I’ll still have a bit of an income for the next little while. It’s going to be interesting to see how much money I spend on ice cream and $7 massages in the next 3 months…..

I don’t have an exact breakdown of my spending because I’m just not that organized.  I like to pretend that I’m a baller so I throw that shit around like it’s no big deal.  But if I were to guess….

Food: $75 (So what?  I like to eat!)

Transportation:  $15

Random Shit (tour of the Mekong, massages, manicures and various other fun activities. etc): $60

And now I leave you with a photo of me throwing dong around because I’m such a big deal.DSC05319
