It was an idea.  A crazy, mad, long shot, insane idea.

It was.

Today marks the 365th day of continuous traveling by Jet Set Zero.  And I can say with certainty that Jet Set Zero is no longer just an idea. Tens of thousands of miles, a half dozen countries, hundreds of photos, videos, beers, friends, coffees and late nights – and a single amazing story.

I sat down to try and write about the last year, to try and sum up, or do justice to, or explain, or even begin to convey the experience that comes from the lifestyle that we’ve led.

But I couldn’t.  There simply is no way to do it justice, no way to explain the enormity and intensity of what this experience means.

Looking back over the lifetimes we’ve lived in the last year, one thing stood out above all else. It was simple.  I have never had the experience of meeting, or traveling with people like the ones I have spent the last year with.  We always joked, worried about, and discussed what it meant to throw your life in with others as we were about to do.  To accept that you would live, work, eat, and breathe along with people, some of whom you’ve never met, day after day.  In the end I don’t think anyone would have guessed at the depth of the bonds we would form.

There are a lot of things I could say one year in, but I won’t.  I’ll say one:

Thank you.  Thank you to everyone that made this possible and lived, sweat, bled, cried, yelled, laughed, and worked alongside each other for the last year.  Rob, Dan, Tom, Matt, Jed, Bryan, Kevin, Nick, and Jen – you guys are and always will be family to me.

Here is what the last year looked like, not in terms of the places we went and the adventures we had, but the people who traveled with each other and made this a journey like absolutely nothing else.
