I apologize for my silence on the blog. The hours for my job are absolutely insane and I have a second (third?) job of rehabilitating my knee. My knee is regaining its range of motion degree by degree My primary physical therapist is a guy called “Cook,” and his regimen is intense, effective, and the opposite of gentle.
I was lucky enough to work near an orthopedic clinic famous for working on professional baseball players. So they don’t mess around.
Another favorite is the massive machine they call “The Biodex.”
Me knee gets strapped into a rotating metal arm which automatically bends and unbends my knee.
It’s quite intimidating to have your injured leg moved by contraption bigger than you powered by enough lbs/sq.ft. that there’s no way I could manually stop it. So, bit by bit, the ligaments in my knee are stretched to a more normal shape and size.
All things considered, my knee is healing fast. The clinic is excellent and I trust the rehabilitation regimen they have me on. I’m off crutches, I can walk up stairs using both legs, and I no longer have an obvious limp. At this point, the biggest barrier between me and the adventures of Seoul is no longer my leg but my job…but that’s a story for another time.
Mat,grad to hear that your knee is getting better! Because when I met you in Seoul it seemed like it looked still pain….. Congrat! Seems like it takes forever to be recovered but don`t give up on rehabilitation until your knee will be fine 100%! Watch out what you act because you don`t wanna wast your time on your valuable journey for that! Hope to see you again walkin normaly and running around!
Thanks for the support Saki =) I agree, physical therapy is my number one priority right now…too important to take lightly. Hope to see you again with healthy knees and free mobility!
Question for you, what was the actual problem called? Torn ACL or Meniscus tear, etc. The reason I ask is because I am having severe pain in my left knee and have been doing my own reading on the subject, still can’t figure it out myself. Thanks.
So glad to hear that the physical therapy is moving along – but don’t get off the crutches too soon now, remember: bitchin’ canes are all the rage right now, thanks to House, M.D.
Hey Matt ,
I came across your blog when I was searching Physical therapy in Seoul, I hardly find anything in english. I want to go to Korea for Physical therapy internship. Can you please give me some insight? and maybe email address for where you received your treatment or any other places you know. Thank you so much!
