The streets of Saigon love to flood.  All the time, and for the smallest of reasons.  Take today for instance. Apparently sometimes there is too much water in the Saigon river.  And, since the sewer runs into it, when the river has too much water it starts coming back up through the sewer, effectively trapping us in the center of a multiple city block long moat of sewer water. Hilarious.

The best part of all this is when we need to leave, say to teach our classes and earn a living.  At that point we get to navigate through the foot+ deep water on our motorbikes hoping traffic doesn’t slow to the point where we have to put our feet down.  Which it inevitably does.  Double hilarious.

On the bright side, it certainly keeps an otherwise terrifying commute from becoming boring.
